Game 2 Notebook: Franzen out for Wings, Lehtinen goes out for Stars Sunday, May 11, 2008 The Detroit Red Wings were without Johan Franzen for Game 2 Saturday night and will be without him for at least Game 3 due to concussion-like symptoms. Franzen, the leading the goal scorer in the playoffs, was experiencing headaches prior to the warm ups, which he did not take, and has been experiencing headaches since the Colorado series. "It's not like he's dizzy or anything. He has headaches," said coach Mike Babcock. "He's a real good player, but it's all about the player and his family first. We've got to get him checked out by the experts, find out what's wrong and we'll go from there. In the meantime, we've got to suck it up and find a way to win." With Frazen out of the lineup the Red Wings moved Dan Cleary up the second line and brought Darren McCarty, a scratch in Game 1, back into the lineup. Stars lose Lehtinen to leg injury Stars forward Jere Lehtinen left the game early in the second period to a leg injury. He took one shift in the second period, left the game and did not return. In the first period of Saturday's game, Lehtinen was hit by teammate Brenden Morrow, who was trying to hit Detroit's Pavel Datsyuk, missed and collided with Lehtinen. Lehtinen is listed as day-to-day. Still no Barnes for Stars Stars forward Stu Barnes missed his fifth straight game due to concussion-like symptoms from a hit he took in Game 3 of the San Jose series. "Skated a little bit yesterday, was feeling the effects last night," Stars coach Dave Tippett said. "He didn't progress like we thought he would today." Faceoff woes continue for Stars After winning just 21 of 56 faceoffs in Game 1, things were even worse on Saturday night. They won only 16 of 55 or 29 percent. Here's how the top three centers fared in the faceoff circle.
Notes
Quotable "The first time I called him up, I was scared to play him and he was scared to play. Now, he's a player that can go against anybody. He's flat out fast, he's gritty, he finishes checks. I mean, he's an NHL player.'' Detroit coach Mike Babcock on center Darren Helm, who scored his first playoff goal Saturday night
