NHL, NHLPA talks focus on accounting, other issues

Friday, August 31, 2007

Wednesday's talks between the NHL and NHLPA focused on so-called "sub-issues," including accounting and the possible formation of a competition committee.

After the two sides met for a second straight day in New York,  NHL chief legal officer Bill Daly released this statement: "We met again today with the Players' Association and continued our collective bargaining discussions. Among the topics covered this morning were various accounting issues relating to the calculation of Club Payroll in the context of a new economic system. We also discussed the potential formation and role of a Competition Committee with joint Player/Club representation and participation."

The two sides are scheduled to talk again on Thursday in New York.
