Sides wrap up after ten hours

Friday, August 31, 2007

League and team finances were the focus once again as the NHL and NHLPA met for about ten hours Wednesday in Toronto.

The two sides have spent the past several meetings trying to reach an agreement on just what constitute hockey related revenues.

It's a key issue since the two sides are thought to be working towards a salary cap system that will be linked to the growth or decline in league revenues.

Wednesday's smaller group session was a precursor for what is expected to be a full bargaining session Thursday that is expected to include NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and NHLPA executive director Bob Goodenow.
