NHL, NHLPA statements

Friday, August 31, 2007

Here are the statements from the NHL and NHLPA as five days of meetings wrapped up in Toronto on Friday. Talks will resume Monday in New York.

Statement from NHL chief legal officer Bill Daly: "The meetings this week were good and we continue to make progress. Obviously, we know that time is of the essence in working to conclude a new CBA, and both sides are proceeding on that basis.  We will resume negotiations in New York on Monday."

Statement from NHLPA senior director Ted Saskin: "The two parties engaged in lengthy negotiations everyday this week, and while progress has been made in a number of areas, there remains a considerable amount of work to be completed in order to reach an agreement. We will be continuing our meetings with the league on Monday morning in New York."
