The Iowa Stars went 1-1-1 during a three-game swing
through Texas this past weekend.
After opening the trip with a 3-1 win in Houston on Friday,
the Stars lost 3-2 in overtime in San Antonio on Saturday and then were shutout
5-0 in Houston on Sunday. The loss on Sunday was the fifth time this season that
Iowa had lost a game by five goals or more this season.
The Stars are 18-18-2-1 on the season. They are currently
sixth in the eight-team West Division based on points, but are in eighth place
based on winning percentage.
Although Iowa has struggled at times the first half of the
season, Dallas co-GM Les Jackson think they will come on during the second half
of the season.
"When you continue to put a bunch of young guys in there it
takes time for them to develop," Jackson said on a recent Iowa Stars radio
broadcast. "They are around .500 now and the past two years they have been the
same and they always make their mark in the second half. That says a lot about
our coaches. Dave [Allison] is a good, firm and tough coach. He holds guys
accountable. If you are going to win you've got to some way push the guys into
the action and he some how, some way gets them do it." |
