The Iowa Stars split their two games of the past week
to end their recent homestand with a 2-2-0-0 record.
After a disappointing 3-0 loss to Chicago on Friday night, a
game in which they play well, the Stars bounced back with a 1-0 win over Peoria
Saturday night.
Tobias Stephan stopped 26 shots for his fourth shutout of the
season and Marty Sertich scored the lone goal.
"It really says a lot about the group because it was a very
frustrating loss last night because they all really believed they deserved a
better fate," Iowa coach Dave Allison told the Des Moines Register. "It really
tests you. The pain tests you. They just pushed through. I'm really proud of
them. ... That has the impetus to really springboard us going forward for this
four-game road trip.
"We'll slowly but surely get ourselves back into this race."
Iowa, which remains seven points out of a playoff spot, plays
four games in six days, all of them on the road, this week. They have two
against Manitoba and then head to Texas for two games against the Houston Aeros,
a West Division foe they trail by seven points in the standings. |
