Sawada scores in pro debut and Iowa win

Quad City at Iowa

Right wing Ray Sawada, who just signed an entry-level contract with the Dallas Stars, scored a goal in his pro debut Friday night as the Iowa Stars beat Quad City 4-1 in Des Moines.

Sawada, who also signed an amateur tryout contract with Iowa of the AHL, had one goal, a plus-two rating and three shots. Sawada, a 2nd round pick (52nd overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, just completed his collegiate career at Cornell.

Marius Holtet and Dan Jancevski also scored for the Stars, who got a 37-save performance from goalie Tobias Stephan.
