The past week |
|
The Iowa Stars hit the road over the past week, wining
two of three games. But they were unable to gain any ground in the
standings.
The Stars (28-30-3-2) remain eight points out of a playoff
spot with 17 games remaining in the season.
Iowa plays two more games on the road this next week, playing
in Chicago and Rockford. |

Neal on a roll since return |
|
Left wing James Neal has been on a roll since returning
from a knee injury in early February. In 13 games Neal has scored six
goals and five assists. This past week in Toronto, he scored
with 39 seconds left in regulation to force overtime and then scored
twice in the shootout, including the winning goal, to lead Iowa to a 5-4
win over the Marlies.
Neal, who has played in 45 games, now leads all Iowa
rookies with 23 points (11 goals, 12 assists) so far this season.
Neal credits Dallas Stars assistant strength and
conditioning coach Manny Hernando for helping him during the almost six
weeks he was out of action.
"Manny, the strength coach from Dallas came down, and
he was kicking my butt," Neal said on Iowa's weekly radio show Monday
night. "I came back in great shape, bigger and stronger than when I
started. You never want to go down with injury, but sometimes it helps
you.
"The same thing happened last year [in juniors].
Second game in from Christmas I hurt my other knee, had to have surgery
and was done until March 15. Come back this year, second game back from
Christmas and I hurt my right knee. Injuries are part of the game. You
have to deal with them and sometimes they work out for the better."

Iowa's clear day roster |
Iowa released its Clear Day Roster last week. This is the list of
players eligible to compete for the remainder of the AHL regular
season and in the 2007 Calder Cup Playoffs.
Goaltenders: Tobias Stephan, Steve Silverthorn
Forwards: Mark Bomersback, Richard Clune, Chris Conner, B.J.
Crombeen, Marius Holtet, Perttu Lindgren, James Neal, Toby Petersen,
Konstantin Pushkarev, Marty Sertich, Janos Vas, Tommy Wandell,
Francis Wathier
Defensemen: Trevor Byrne, Ethan Graham, Dan Jancevski, Bryce
Lampman, Chris Lee, Jussi Timonen, Brett Westgarth Players can be
added to injury, suspension or call up. Junior or college players
can be signed to amateur tryout contracts once their seasons are
complete. |
