Iowa eliminated from playoff race after shootout loss

Quad City at Iowa

The Iowa Stars built a 3-1 lead behind two goals by James Neal and another goal by Marty Sertich, but Quad City scored twice in the third period to tie and then won in the shootout to beat the Stars 4-3. The loss eliminated the Stars, who fell to 33-34-4-3 on the season, from the AHL playoff race.

Ray Sawada had two assists in the game. Matt Climie got the start in goal and stopped 23 of 26 shots in regulation in overtime. He stopped two of four in the shootout, while his teammates were 0-4.
