Big season, big summer for Neal
Last summer, as Dallas Stars training camp 2007 approached, it
would not have been entirely unreasonable for Stars fans to
expect prospect left winger James Neal to make an impact in
training camp and to crack the Dallas line-up if things went
very well, and, if not, to at least make an early impact in the
American Hockey League with the Iowa Stars. |

When Konstantin Pushkarev left the
Iowa Stars on November 7 to play for CSKA Moscow of the Russian Super
League, nobody expected to see the talented winger in Des Moines again.
However, by the end of January the 21-year-old had led Iowa in scoring
for the month and looked unlikely to return to Russia for any reason any
time soon other than visiting family.

to an end Tuesday, but they did pick up a point. Nolan Baumgartner's
goal with 24 seconds left tied the game at 3-3, but the Stars lost 4-3

For the second straight game the Iowa Stars
fell behind 3-1 to the Peoria Rivermen. And for the second straight time
they rallied to win. This time, though, they didn't need a shootout. The
Stars scored five unanswered goals to erase the two-goal deficit and
beat the Rivermen 6-3 in Peoria Friday night. |

scorers for the Stars. It was Wandell's first goal in the AHL and North
America. He scored on a rebound after B.J. Crombeen drove the net and
put a shot on goal in the first period.

Lites addresses Iowa concerns
Dallas Stars president Jim Lites told an
Iowa newspaper Wednesday the team would like to eventually move its AHL affiliate
to a new arena near Austin, but he also tried to ease concerns that any
such move would cost the city of Des Moines an American Hockey League
franchise.

Goalie Sauve to provide depth in Iowa
Stars GM Doug Armstrong said goalie Philippe Sauve, who he
said has signed an AHL contract with Iowa, will come to Stars
