Big season, big summer for Neal
Last summer, as Dallas Stars training camp 2007 approached, it would not have been entirely unreasonable for Stars fans to expect prospect left winger James Neal to make an impact in training camp and to crack the Dallas line-up if things went very well, and, if not, to at least make an early impact in the American Hockey League with the Iowa Stars.

Back from Russia with love
When Konstantin Pushkarev left the Iowa Stars on November 7 to play for CSKA Moscow of the Russian Super League, nobody expected to see the talented winger in Des Moines again.  However, by the end of January the 21-year-old had led Iowa in scoring for the month and looked unlikely to return to Russia for any reason any time soon other than visiting family.

Tobias Stephan stopped all 29 shots he faced and Janos Vas scored the only goal of the game early in the third period as the Iowa Stars beat Milwaukee 1-0 in Des Moines Tuesday night.

Iowa rallies, wins in shootout
Marty Sertich and Junior Lessard scored third period power play goals to help the Iowa Stars rally from a 2-0 deficit and force overtime, and then Vojtech Polak, Lessard and Toby Petersen scored in the shootout as the Iowa Stars snapped a three-game losing streak with a 3-2 win in Peoria Friday night.

The Iowa Stars fell to 3-5-0-0 on the season, losing 4-1 to San Antonio in Des Moines Tuesday night. It was the third straight loss for the Stars, who are now 1-3 at home this season.

Iowa falls 4-2 in Milwaukee
The Iowa Stars lost 4-2 in Milwaukee Friday night. Tom Wandell and Janos Vas were the goal scorers for the Stars. It was Wandell's first goal in the AHL and North America. He scored on a rebound after B.J. Crombeen drove the net and put a shot on goal in the first period.

Marty Sertich and Vojtech Polak each scored two goals as the Iowa Stars beat Lake Erie 6-2 Wednesday night. Toby Petersen had one goal and two assists and Chris Conner scored a goal.

Lites addresses Iowa concerns
Dallas Stars president Jim Lites told an Iowa newspaper Wednesday the team would like to eventually move its AHL affiliate to a new arena near Austin, but he also tried to ease concerns that any such move would cost the city of Des Moines an American Hockey League franchise.

Goalie Sauve to provide depth in Iowa
Stars GM Doug Armstrong said goalie Philippe Sauve, who he said has signed an AHL contract with Iowa, will come to Stars training camp in Frisco next month and then play with the Stars minor league affiliate.

Stars extend agreement with Idaho, Iowa schedule released
The Dallas Stars announced Tuesday that they have extended their affiliation agreement with the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL by two years.
