Prospects update:
Memorial Cup watch
Thursday, May 15,
2008
Two Dallas Stars
prospects are playing in the Canadian Hockey League's Memorial Cup,
which gets underway Friday in Kitchener, Ontario.
Forward Ondrej Roman,
a fifth round pick (136th overall) by the Stars in 2007, has been a key
player for the Spokane Chiefs, who are representing the WHL.
Roman's 20 points
(nine goals, 11 assists) were tied for the team lead. He was tied for
fourth in the league in playoff points, tied for fifth in goals, tied
for sixth in assists and his plus-13 rating ranked 3rd.
Spokane opens the
tournament Saturday against fellow Stars prospect Michael Neal and the Belleville
Bulls of the OHL. Neal, the younger brother of Stars prospect James Neal
was another another fifth round pick (149th overall) in 2007. He
missed the entire regular season with a knee injury, but returned late
in the playoffs. He has no points in seven games for the Bulls.
The other two teams
in the tournament are Kitchener (OHL) and Gatineau (QMJHL). The
tournament begins Friday and concludes with the Championship game on
Sunday May 25.
The NHL Network will
be carrying the games.
Games will also be
carried on the web on a pay-per-view basis. The
details are
