Split his time between the AHL and ECHL. He had one assist in 25 games with Iowa of the AHL. He registered seven goals and 14 assists in 22 games with Idaho of the ECHL. He had one goal and one assist in four playoff games for Idaho. Missed the first part of the season due to a high ankle sprain.

In 2006-07 Gagnon led the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League in both goals (42), points (80) and plus/minus rating (+27) while playing in 59 games.  He had six goals, two assists and a minus-four rating in 11 playoff games. He won the WHL's Brad Hornung Trophy, which honors the league's Most Sportsmanlike Player. He was the Western Conference nominee for the WHL Player of the Year Award. Was selected to the WHL Western Conference First All Star Team. ... Played for the Dallas Stars at the Traverse City Prospects Tournament in September 2006. ... Despite missing ten games due to injury, Gagnon led Seattle (WHL) in scoring with 45 points (24 goals, 21 assists) in 62 games. An excellent skater with very good speed and acceleration. Has good balance and can be tough to knock off his feet. Good two-way player who is an effective forechecker and responsible defensively. Willing to take a hit to make a play. Has good skills and is a good faceoff guy. Smart player with good leadership ability.
