TV information for Saturday
/Andrew's Dallas Stars Page
Saturday’s game against the Coyotes is on Fox Sports Plus. Here is the information from the Stars on who is carrying and the channel numbers:
Time Warner Cable – Channel 960 (digital cable)
DirecTV – Channel 677, Channel 677-1 HD
Dish Network – Channel 446
AT&T U-Verse – Channel 754, Channel 1754-HD
Also, FOX Sports Southwest (the main network) will replay the game in a condensed one-hour format on Saturday at 11 p.m., giving fans that don’t have access to FOX Sports Plus an opportunity to see the game.
Two main carriers do not have access to FOX Sports Plus yet – Charter Communications and Verizon FIOS.
FSN is working with Charter Communications to get the appropriate equipment in place that will allow Charter to carry FOX Sports Plus. Unfortunately, it won’t be ready for Saturday’s game (but hopefully for the next Plus game on Nov. 27). FSN is exploring options with Verizon Fios to carry FOX Sports Plus.
Prospect note

If you have the NHL Network in the U.S., you can watch a couple of Dallas prospects who are playing college hockey tonight. LW Curtis McKenzie and RW Reilly Smith both play for No. 1 ranked Miami, which plays Ferris State at 6:30 pm Central Time. McKenzie and Smith are both freshmen and both are 2009 draft picks. McKenzie (6th round/159th overall) has three goals and five assists in ten games. Smith (3rd round/69th overall) has two goals and two assists in ten games.

Stars-Sharks thoughts

That was a nice win for the Stars. They overcame a 2-0 deficit in the third period against a very good team in the third period to get the game in OT and then they finally won a a shootout to get the extra point.
Marty Turco was outstanding. He came up with some great saves late in the game and then his stop on Dan Boyle in the shootout was a dandy. He’s playing superb here lately.
Marc Crawford’s hunch to go with Stephane Robidas in the shootout paid off. Nothing fancy from Robidas, just pulled the trigger and scored.
Mike Modano had an excellent game. His best of the season and not just because he got some points. He had some real jump to his game and was pretty effective down the stretch when he got put on the line with Brenden Morrow and Mike Ribeiro. Maybe it’s San Jose or the sight of Evgeni Nabokov in net. James Neal came back strong off the groin injury and creating some havoc out there.
They got favorable bounces on both their goals in the the third period but they worked for the bounces I thought. The Neal goal was a fluke, but it really changed the momentum of the game and it only took 1:45 for Modano to score to tie the game at 2-2.
Overall, they took it to the Sharks for a good part of the third although they needed Turco to come up with some big stops for them at the end of it when San Jose had the power play chances. The first period was well played by both sides and it was advantage Sharks in period two.
Overall, I thought both teams played pretty well and both deserved to get something out of the game and both did.
The Stars got a little more and it was a big win for them. We’ll see what they can roll out in Phoenix on Saturday. That should be a fun one with Dave Tippett behind the Phoenix bench and all.

Ken Hitchcock coached his 1,000th NHL game last night. Didn’t go all that well. Blue Jackets lost 9-1 to Detroit. Anyway, Hitch was on the NHL conference call today and you can read the transcript of that call after the jump. He talks a little about the old days, when was coaching the Stars’ IHL team in Kalamazoo.
