Battle of the Stars thoughts

I’d say this was a good a night for the Dallas Stars. I am not going to make too much out of the result of the game, but after two good days of practice the Stars seemed to have things in order Wednesday night. Marc Crawford seemed happy with the effort and thought it a good tune-up for his club, so that’s a positive. I thought the Texas Stars played pretty well to start but the big club gradually took control of the game and were pretty efficient in doing so. The bigger and more important test will be Saturday against Nashville.

It was a fun game. There was a lot of pace to it, there were some good hits, lots of good chances and it was very competitive.

The building is great. The crowd was great. They even yelled “Stars” twice during the National Anthem. It was a pretty good night overall. I think the Texas Stars and AHL are going to do well there. The building holds 6,800 for hockey and the announced crowd was 6,223 and that’s what it looked like from where I was sitting.

A couple of player notes. Crawford mentioned it after the game and I noticed it during the game as well: Ivan Vishnevskiy looked very good. He was much more noticeable in this game than he was during his time in Dallas. I thought Fabian Brunnstrom looked pretty good too.

The most interesting news of the day is that Jere Lehtinen might practice on Thursday. We’ll have to see how that plays out. If he is ready to go that could lead to juggling around of the lineup.

It’s unfortunate that the audio feed didn’t work for many of you, and I know it was frustrating. I am to exactly sure, but I think they tried to put this together kind of quickly. They were working diligently trying to figure it out for the first two periods and finally got it working for the third period.

One final note, the hot dogs at the Cedar Park Center are far superior to those at the AAC. Just saying.
