Friday practice update

It was an optional skate in Frisco today and only five guys were on the ice: Ribeiro, Auld, Peters, Sawada and Woywitka.

Mike Modano will skate in the morning and they’ll see where he is. He’s better and probably could have skated today if they had practiced. Marc Crawford said they are “hopeful” about Modano.

Mike Ribeiro skated hard again today.Crawford said he is “very close” for Tuesday, when the Stars open their final road trip before the break. He’ll skate with the team tomorrow morning at the AAC and then get in full practice Monday. It looks like he’ll be getting back in before the break.

Marty Turco will start tomorrow against the Coyotes.

The Stars are expected to send out a release later today on the signing of prospect Ondrej Roman.
