Here come the Sharks
The Stars are going for that elusive second straight win and if they are going to do it tonight it will be an accomplishment because it will come against the best team in the league right now: San Jose.
The Sharks started the season strong and have just kept rolling along. They are 18-3-1 and are current on a five-game winning streak that has seen them outscore their opponents 26-11. They are playing some pretty good hockey and, along with Detroit, are just a cut above everybody else in the league.
Of course the Stars and Sharks usually play tight games no matter what, so I am kind expecting the same tonight. So, I think the chances of the Stars getting beyond this consecutive wins issue is pretty good.
A note from the AHL. I saw this in yesterday’s Winnipeg Sun:
For the second time in as many days, a Dallas Stars prospect has been sidelined with an injury.
Rookie right-winger Raymond Sawada will join defenceman Mark Fistric (knee) on the sidelines with a stress fracture to the tibia.
Sawada, a second round (52nd overall) pick of the Stars in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, is expected to miss at least two weeks of action.
“Yeah, it’s pretty frustrating. I’ve been playing with a bit of pain and it’s a setback because I thought I was getting back to my physical game,” said Sawada, who has seven assists in 17 games this season. “I know I have to try and stay as positive I can and work hard to stay in the best shape as possible so I can make a quick return.”
