Just got word from the Stars that James Neal has been suspended two games for the hit on Derek Dorsett last night. Here’s the release from the league:

Dallas Stars’ forward James Neal has been suspended for two games, without pay, for delivering a hit from behind that caused injury to Derek Dorsett of the Columbus Blue Jackets in NHL game #304, November 19, the National Hockey League announced today.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and based on his average annual salary, Neal will forfeit $8,515.00. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

The incident occurred at 13:01 of the second period and Neal was assessed a major penalty for boarding and a game misconduct.

Neal will miss games vs. New Jersey (Nov. 21) and Carolina (Nov. 23). He will be eligible to return on Nov. 25 vs. St. Louis.
