The World Junior Championship gets underway today in Ottawa. All three of the Stars prospects playing in the tournament - Jamie Benn (Canada), Sergei Korostin (Russia), Ondrej Roman (Czech Republic) see action today. Here's Friday's schedule along with the TV schedule.

According to this story on NHL..com, 28 of the 30 NHL teams have at least one prospect playing in the tournament.

Some of the big names who will go in the 2009 draft - John Tavares (Canada) and Victor Hedman (Sweden) - are playing as well.

The Germany-USA and Canada-Czech Republic game are both being carried live here in the U.S. by the NHL Network.

Teams Time/TV
Latvia-Russia 1:30 p.m.
Germany-United States 2:30 p.m. (NHL Network-US/TSN)
Finland-Sweden 5:30 p.m.
Canada-Czech Republic 6:30 p.m. (NHL Network-US/TSN)

Mark - My guide for NHL network says this is the 2007 IIHF WJHC....

What guide is that? The NHL Network is showing this year’s tournament games live, starting today with Germany and the United States.

The DirectTV guide… It says 2007 IIHF WJC Germany vs. US from Leksand, Sweden. I guess we’ll see at 2:30… It dies show the 6:30 game matching what you have above… could be a typo…

The NHL Network and USA Hockey both say it is today’s USA-Germany game.

Just to let you know, prospect ondrej roman will be returning to our spokane chiefs after the WJ tourney.
