After the Stars missed on their first power play chance of the game, Colorado got its first opportunity and scored. Milan Hejduk sent a cross-ice pass to Darcy Tucker, who scored off a one-timer from the right circle at the 4:28 mark.

The Stars answered at the 5:59 mark when Brandon Segal scored off the rebound of a Brad Richards shot to make it a 2-2 game.
