Wednesday morning skate: Auld tonight, Ribeiro audio
Alex Auld is in net tonight.
Brenden Morrow and Jere Lehtinen were listed as probable by head coach Marc Crawford. Morrow seemed ready to go, but Lehtinen, who has been out with a neck injury, sounded iffy.
“It’s close but I don’t know,” Lehtinen said after he came off the ice. “It would probably be tough for tonight. It’s getting better. The lower body feels great.”
Mike Ribeiro skated with the team this morning. He said he’d like to try to return before the Olympic break. Stars head coach Marc Crawford said Ribeiro wasn’t supposed to be out there this morning, but appreciates how anxious Ribeiro is to return. He said the next step for Ribeiro is to see the doctors later today and get clearance for non-contact practices. Then he has to work his way up to contact practices. It’s a significant injury and a rare one, so it’s not something they have complete handle as far as a timetable.
Here’s audio of Ribeiro talking to the media after he came off the ice today:
