Friday morning skate update

A few notes from the morning skate.

Alex Auld will be net tonight. Stars head coach Marc Crawford said he wanted to give Auld at start at the American Airlines Center.

“He hasn’t played a home game yet,” said Crawford. “I talked to Marty and told him it didn’t look like we’d have another opportunity to play Alex at home based on what we’ve looked at for scheduling of goaltenders. I think it’s important that we just don’t play Alex on the road. Sometimes it’s nice to hear a cheer when you do something well and hopefully he has a great performance tonight.

Mike Modano and Jere Lehtinen won’t go tonight. They worked out with Steve Ott, who is suspended for tonight, and Turco towards the end of practice and were skating hard. Maybe tomorrow in Nashville.

“They’re both closer. I think there is a possibility that one or both could play tomorrow,” Crawford said of Modano and Lehtinen’s status. “If not tomorrow, then by the next games we will have them. Ott will play for sure tomorrow.”
