Frisco update

Went out to Frisco, where a lot of lot players were on the ice and ex-Star Craig Ludwig was running them through some drills. Among the players out there today:

Mike Ribeiro, Brad Richards, Loui Eriksson, Steve Ott, Trevor Daley, Matt Niskanen, James Neal, Brian Sutherby, Toby Petersen, Jeff Woywitka, Andrew Hutchinson, Ivan Vishnevskiy and Trevor Ludwig. Marty Turco was out there briefly. Among the players working out off the ice while I was there were Stephane Robidas (still waiting for his gear), Fabian Brunnstrom and Alex Auld.

There were probably others, but those were the ones I saw.

Talked briefly to Robidas, Ott, Eriksson and Turco. I’ll write up a brief update tonight. Some of it I am saving for training camp preview stuff that will come next week.

A couple other things. I’ve gotten a few emails about whether the NHL Network is carrying the Traverse City Prospects tournament this year. As far as I can tell, the answer is no. I do know that there are no Traverse City games showing on NHL Network’s current broadcast schedule.

I am going to be in Traverse City Sunday and Monday to watch the Stars play their first two games. That’s going to be how I spend my Labor Day weekend. 

So, do you know when more of these “impromtu” skates will take place?

They should be out there Wednesday about 10:00 or 10:30 am or so to about 11:30 am, nothing expected Thursday and they should be out there Friday at the same time. That’s my understanding. There’s nothing set in stone. They aren’t official practices.
