Points percentage standings: Stars tied for 5th
The Stars look good in the standings based on points percentage standings after their win over Detroit last night. These standings are based how teams have done in collecting the points available to them so far and the Stars are tied for fifth in the Western Conference with Edmonton and Minnesota who, by the way, play each other tonight.
Columbus, the Stars' opponent Saturday, holds miniscule edge over Phoenix for the 8th spot.
Key game tonight: As mentioned, Minnesota is at Edmonton. So, at the end of the night the Stars will be in sixth based on these standings because one of those two teams will move up and one will move down.
Before anyone accuses me of homerism by placing the Stars in the fifth spot, this is how the teams were ranked at NHL.com based on points percentage. By the way, the Stars are tied for 13th overall in the league in points percentage.
