The Bottom Line:
The Dallas Stars were defeated by the Colorado Avalanche 5-3 on Sunday afternoon
at American Airlines Center, moving their record to 29-26-13 on the season for
71 points. Dallas’ next game will be Tuesday night against the San Jose Sharks
(7:30 p.m. CT – FOX Sports Southwest; Sports Radio 1310 The Ticket).
Stats and Stuff:
· The Stars are 7-4-1 in their last 12 games at American Airlines Center, and
10-5-1 in their last 16.
· Jamie Benn scored his 17th goal of the season and his sixth goal in the last
11 games.
· Brandon Segal scored his fourth and fifth goals of the season, the first
multi-goal game of his career. He now has six points in the last six games
(4-2-6). Three of his first six games with Dallas have been multi-point efforts.
· Mark Fistric registered his eighth and ninth assists of the season for the
first multi-point game of his career.
· James Neal earned his 23rd assist of the season. He now has eight points (3g,
5a) in the last 11 games. The Stars (entered the game) are 22-5-2 all-time when
Neal earns an assist.
· Brad Richards earned his 55th assist of the season and seventh point in the
last seven games (1-6-7).
· Mike Ribeiro was credited with his 28th assist of the season. He now has 10
points (5-5-10) in the last 10 games.
· Trevor Daley picked up his 15th point of the season (assist) and his third
point (1-2-3) in the last four games.

Brenden Morrow:
(On the disappointment today)
"I think leaving Washington, a few of the Capitals had the same feeling,
throwing lots of rubber at the net and expecting to get a better result. We had
lots of opportunities. [Craig Anderson] played well, and we just had a couple of
mistakes on gaps and they ended up in our net."
(On the post-Olympic performance of the team)
"We may take a second to think about it, but we've got another game in two
nights. Nobody's coming in feeling sorry for us, and if we have that attitude,
we're good as dead in those games. It's frustrating, disappointing. The bit of a
roll we had on that last road trip leading up to the break was a bright spot for
us, and then to come out and be 1-5-1 - it's not good enough. We're watching
those teams that are on that playoff bubble all collecting points, and we're not
getting them. It's going to be an early summer for us if we don't start two days
from now. It's frighteningly close to our playoff picture evaporating."
Brandon Segal:
(On if the recent slump is frustrating)
"You've got to stay focused, you can't dwell on it. We've got to move forward
and look at some adjustments that we've got to make. Obviously, we've got a big
game against San Jose - they're one of the top teams in the league, and we've
got to be ready."
(On scoring two goals today)
"When you get a couple of goals, it always feels good, but obviously we need the
wins right now most importantly. This is a do or die situation right now for us.
We would have liked a better result tonight but we played well and we've just
got to take what we learned out of this game and move forward."
Stephane Robidas:
(On not getting two points)
"Every night that you don't pick up points, it gets tougher and tougher. But I
think in the end, you can't give up. We've just got to keep plugging away and
find a way to win games. That's the bottom line."
(On the difference today)
"It's details. We gave them a few chances, and they scored two power-play goals.
We didn't score one on our power play, and if you look at the score - They won
5-3, but if we score two and they don't score [on the power play], it's a
different game. It's details in the game that make the difference. That's what
we've got to look at. We need to keep doing the right things we've been doing in
the last two games, and try to clean up the little things that we're not doing
well and go from there."
Marc Crawford:
(On Craig Anderson)
"Our guys battled hard today. There was nothing wrong with our effort. We've
played extremely well; we haven't given up a lot. We just came up against a
very, very hot goaltender on the other side tonight and he was the difference
maker. I thought our guys did everything they needed to do against that kind of
performer; you need to keep getting traffic in front of the net, you need to be
hard in those hard areas and we were. But he was equal to the task."
(On getting frustrated)
"You have to keep persevering and I know it's hard. It's hard for our players to
hear that, it's hard for the coaching staff and the organization to keep saying
it. But it is the answer and it is the right answer. We did many good things
tonight and we have to keep building on that."
(On pulling Turco)
"It wasn't for a change of pace. Oftentimes when you do it, it provides that.
They had I think only five or six shots from that point on. I think our guys
need to know that we going to persevere and keep moving forward. I thought that
that was the call that needed to be made."
