Report: Richards to get job with Wild

The Minneapolis Star Tribune is reporting this afternoon that San Jose Sharks assistant Todd Richards will be the next head coach of the Minnesota Wild. Former Stars coach Dave Tippett was thought to be a candidate for the job.

It’s great that the Wild are finally starting to infuse some native-Minnesotan hockey talent into the organization. You can look around the league and see the impact players that were raised in Minnesota, attended high school at Shattuck-St. Mary’s in Faribault, or played college hockey in the WCHA. One can hope that the new Fletcher/Richards regime will do what they can to keep that talent in Minnesota.
