Stars-Kings thoughts

So much for the strong start coming out of the Olympic break. Well, at least in the first game. It's hard to blame it on the break because the Kings were coming off it too.

In a nutshell, they were flat. The execution was lacking, especially in the defensive end. They seemed a step behind most of the night. Put all that together and you're likely to get run over by a good team like the Kings.

There wasn't much help for Marty Turco out there. Those were some quality chances he had to face, guys right on the doorstep a few times.

It will be interesting to see what the Stars roll out Thursday against St. Louis, which rolled over the Coyotes in Phoenix tonight.

Can't do much about this one. How they bounce back is what's important now.

The Kings are the real deal. That's a good team. They are where they are in the standings because they belong there, not because of smoke and mirrors. Drew Doughty is a special player. He had a strong performance for Canada at the Olympics and was a cut above everybody out there tonight. They've finally got a good goalie in Jonathan Quick. He was a little shaky at times out there, but he was making saves and that's what counts. On a side not, nice to see former Stars prospect Richard Clune up in the NHL.

The lines to start the game:

The lines at the end of the game:
