The Associated Press has a good article out today on the Stars having to spread their minor league players around to different AHL teams this season because they don’t have an AHL affilate this season. You can find a copy of that article here.
Of course, we all know the Stars are scheduled to have an affiliate in Austin starting next season. I mentioned this earlier this week and the official announcement came out today: the Texas Stars’ official website is up and running. Here’s the release:
The Texas Stars announced today that the hockey club has launched its official web site—www.TexasStarsHockey.com.
The new web site features full information about the new hockey franchise, scheduled to begin play next season in the American Hockey League (AHL). The Texas Stars will be the primary development affiliate of the NHL’s Dallas Stars.
“We’re very excited about launching TexasStarsHockey.com,” said Texas Stars President Rick McLaughlin. “It’s another step closer to the Texas Stars taking the ice here in Central Texas. The web site has a lot of information and features on it. It is a great place for any fan to learn more about the Texas Stars.”
TexasStarsHockey.com includes full information on tickets and suites to see the Texas Stars play at the brand new Cedar Park Center, which is scheduled to be completed by late summer. The web site includes photo montages and video of the construction site, as well as frequently asked questions, bringing fans up to date on the progress of the Stars’ luxurious new home.
Profiles of the Dallas Stars’ top prospects, many of which will form the first Texas Stars roster, are also featured on the web site. TexasStarsHockey.com also includes an interactive Fan Zone section, complete with operating message boards, wallpapers, and a Hockey 101 page that explains the sport for any fan.
“When we sat down to plan the web site, we tried to think of everything that a fan might want to learn or read about the Texas Stars and Cedar Park Center,” said McLaughlin. “It’s a great hub of information and we will continue to grow it as the Texas Stars get closer to playing hockey. We’ll have a lot of breaking news to report over the next few months and the best place to find it is TexasStarsHockey.com.”
