About the Stars
The Stars (29-25-13) opened a six-game homestand with a 2-1 shootout loss to Los Angeles Friday night. The Stars are 1-4-1 in their last six games.

"We played a lot better tonight," said Stars coach Marc Crawford. "We did a lot of good things in the defensive zone. We really protected well. We blocked a lot of shots, we were in lanes. They didn't get anything easy, which is really positive. On the other side, I think our offense will be better as we move forward."

The Stars fell to 5-9 in shootouts this season.

Marty Turco will start in goal Sunday.

Injuries: D Nicklas Grossman (back) and  C Tom Wandell (knee) are out.

About the Avalanche
Colorado (38-23-6) defeated Florida 3-0 in Denver Thursday as Craig Anderson stopped 27 shots for his seventh shutout of the season.

"It felt good just getting the win. It was a big two points, and we needed that," said Anderson. "It was just nice to put together a 60-minute effort and play the way we're capable of."

The Avalanche, who trail Vancouver by three points for the Northwest Division lead, play six of their next eight games on the road.

Injuries: D Ruslan Salei (upper body), RW Brandon Yip (shoulder), C David Koci (hand) and RW David Jones (knee) are out.
