About the Stars

The Stars (29-26-13) saw their winless streak hit three games (0-2-1) and their post-Olympic break record fall to 1-5-1 after a 5-3 loss to Colorado Sunday at American Airlines Center. The Stars lost despite outshooting the Avalanche 51-22 in the game.

"Our guys battled hard today. There was nothing wrong with our effort. We've played extremely well," said Stars coach Marc Crawford. "We haven't given up a lot. We just came up against a very, very hot goaltender (Colorado's Craig Anderson) on the other side tonight and he was the difference maker."

Kari Lehtonen will start in goal Tuesday for the Stars.

Injuries: D Nicklas Grossman (back) is questionable. C Mike Modano (appendectomy) and C Tom Wandell (knee) are out.

About the Sharks

The Sharks are coming off a 4-2 loss in Anaheim on Sunday. The Sharks, who are winless in their last two games, fell behind 3-0 in the first period Sunday.

"I think we can live with a loss if we’re working our butts off, but we cannot not work hard," San Jose defenseman Dan Boyle said. "Even though we’re sitting in a good position, we were in the same position last year. If we’re going to coast, we’re going to coast downhill. Our effort wasn’t there tonight. Everybody needs to show up and make a difference. When only half the team shows up, that’s a problem."

Tuesday's game is the second of a six-game road trip for the Sharks.

Injuries: D Marc-Edouard Vlasic (lower body) is out.
