With Jere Lehtinen out with an injury, there's still an opening on a line with Mike Modano and Steve Ott. The latest player to get a shot at filling the void is the team's Mr. Versatility, Toby Petersen.

Cedar Park affiliate a boost for Stars

Last season - a season when they didn't have an affiliate in the American Hockey League - the Dallas Stars sent players to ten different AHL teams last season. This season there will be just one, and it will be a lot closer than the team's previous top minor league affiliates.

Stars lose 5-0 to Blues

The Dallas Stars ended the NHL portion of their preseason schedule with a 5-0 loss to the St. Louis Blues at the American Airlines Center Saturday night.

Stars make more cuts, zero in on final roster

The Stars cut their roster to 25 active players Friday but in reality they trimmed it to 23, the NHL maximum. It was not so good news for defenseman Andrew Hutchinson, who is waiting to see if he clears waivers, but positive news for forwards Jamie Benn and Tom Wandell, who both have a chance of starting the season in the NHL.

Stars edge Avalanche 3-2

Alex Auld stopped 32 shots and Loui Eriksson had two goals and one assist as the Dallas Stars beat the Colorado Avalanche 3-2 at American Airlines Center Thursday night.

For the Stars players who didn't play in game at Florida, Wednesday was a day off. Considering the game schedule and the pace of the practices under head coach Marc Crawford, it was surely a welcome relief.
