The Stars finished strong in January, winning five of their last eight games, but overall it was a rough month due to their road struggles.

The Stars were 6-9-0 (5-2-0 at home and 1-7-0 on the road) in January for a .400 points percentage, which ranked 13th among the Western Conference teams. Only Calgary (.367) and Edmonton (.083) had lower points percentages. 

Calgary's slide into the eighth/ninth spot in the standings helped the Stars not lose much ground in the race for the final playoff spot. Even though their record was lackluster, the Stars  lost only one point on eighth place during the month.

Individual player stats

Here's a look at individual player stats for the month. Among some items of note:

  • Mike Modano led the team in goal scoring with six.
     
  • Modano, Loui Eriksson, Brad Richards and Steve Ott scored 19 of the team's 34 goals.
