Prospect Stats Update: European tournaments
Here's the first of our statistical updates on Stars prospects this season. This one involves prospects playing in European tournaments.
Defenseman Philip Larsen, a 5th round pick from this summer's draft who made a strong showing at the July development camp in Frisco, is playing for Ulf Dahlen's Frolunda Indians at the Nordic Trophy tournament.
The 18-year-old Larsen, who is from Denmark, has played in all six games for Frolunda, picking up two assists and six penalty minutes. Both his assists were on the power play and both came in a 5-3 win over Jokerit of Finland's SM-Liiga.
Frolunda is 5-1-0 in the tournament so far. Ex-Stars goalie Johan Holmqvist has played three games for Frolunda, registering a 0.67 goals against average and a .977 save percentage.
The Nordic Trophy Tournament runs through early September.
Forward Tom Wandell scored a goal for Timra Saturday at the Clas Ohlson Cup, giving him two goals in three games played for the tournament.
The two goals scored tied the for the tournament lead. Wandell also won 26 of 52 faceoffs over the three games. Timra finished in second place with a record of 1-1-1.
