About the Stars
The Stars won their second straight game and their fifth in the last seven, defeating the Colorado Avalanche 3-2 at American Airlines Center Friday night.

"It was a good team effort," said Stars forward James Neal. "We want to put a run together and get in a playoff spot, and we did a real good job tonight."

The Stars have won five straight at home and of eight of the last nine at the AAC.

The Stars assigned C Warren Peters to the Texas Stars of the AHL on Saturday.

Alex Auld will start in goal.

About the Coyotes
The Coyotes won their third straight game, beating the New York Rangers 3-2 at Jobing.com Arena Saturday night. The Coyotes built a 3-0 lead in the first period and then held off a late rally by New York.

"It was a game where we were in control early and the style that they play tends to make the game look a little bit ragged," Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said. "We had some opportunities in the second period but didn't put it away."

The Coyotes play eight games before the Olympic break, six on the road.

Ilya Bryzgalov will start in goal for the Coyotes.
