Right wing Brandon Segal, plucked off waivers from the Los Angeles Wings earlier in the week, had an impressive debut with the Stars Saturday night.

Segal, who started the game on a line with Brenden Morrow and Jamie Benn, ended up with a goal, an assist and two hits on the night while playing 10:15 on various lines throughout the game.

His goal, a deflection of Trevor Daley shot early in the second period, gave the Stars a 1-0 lead and held up the game-winner.

"It's fun coming to a new team and seeing what it is all about," Segal told reporters after the game. "You can't ask for much better than that, but one game doesn't make a season."

Segal met Stars coach Marc Crawford's expectations, which were detailed in a pregame interview on Fox Sports Southwest.

"I think he's a player that is going to give us energy on the forecheck. He's a guy that skates well. He's got a decent shot and he's got decent size," Crawford said. "We're expecting him to be physical. We're expecting him to finish his check. Hopefully he'll pop a goal and that would help too."
