Stars Notes: Sutherby out at least one week
Stars forward Brian Sutherby is expected to miss at least one week with a sprained shoulder he suffered in Sunday's game against Phoenix.
"We're hopeful that he'll react to the treatment and that he'll be able to make it back before the break," said Stars coach Marc Crawford. "He suffered it when he hit [Phoenix's Shane] Doan the other day and it's just a reaggravation, I think, of a previous injury."
With Sutherby out, Warren Peters, who was recalled the AHL on Monday, was in the lineup Tuesday night against the Minnesota Wild.
Ribeiro update
Stars center Mike Ribeiro, who has been out since suffering a throat contusion on January 6, skated again with the team on Tuesday morning. Stars coach Marc Crawford said Ribeiro is close to making another step forward towards his return to action.
"The word today was that contact is close," Crawford said. "I think if he gets in a full practice [Wednesday] and he doesn't have the safety jersey on then you'll know that he's a step closer."
A time table for a return is still up in the air. While recovering from the injury is one thing, getting back up to speed in another area is also a factor.
"Ideally we'd like to see him before the break, but we've got to be careful with him," said Crawford. "His conditioning has fallen off. Here's a guy that for three weeks couldn't do anything. ... I am sure it's going to happen, but it's going to take a little bit of time."
Quotable
"It's been a good stretch. I've felt better, I feel like I'm getting some good looks on net, and getting some quality chances and shots that have been finding their way through some legs and the goalies. So it's been a good run, I'm feeling a little better, opportunities have been following me around, rebounds have been there, some guys have made some good passes to free up some shots, so it's been a good half-dozen games or so."
Stars center Mike Modano, who has six goals and two assists in his last eight games
