Here is a preview of Wednesday's game between the Dallas Stars and Florida Panthers.

About the Stars

The Stars are coming off a 4-2 loss in Tampa Bay on Monday. Dallas held a 2-1 lead going into the third, but were outscored 3-0 in the final 20 minutes. It was the third straight game the Stars had lost a lead in the third period.

"We need to figure out our third period play, and quick," goalie Marty Turco said. "We are too inconsistent in locking down games. I think the theme of it all is we're not executing and making enough plays, and it's something that needs to be addressed."

The loss dropped the Stars to 8-12-3 on the road this season.

Injuries: RW Fabian Brunnstrom (ankle), RW Landon Wilson (ribs), D Sergei Zubov (hip) and LW Brenden Morrow (knee) are out.

About the Panthers

The Panthers are coming off a 3-2 shootout loss to Buffalo on Monday. The Panthers are 2-6 in shootouts this season. Only Tampa Bay, which is 2-7, has lost more games in the shootout.

"It's frustrating," Panthers coach Pete DeBoer said. "But what are you going to do about it? We can't practice it any more, we've tried different shooters, both goalies haven't had much luck at it. Hopefully, the tide will turn somehow for us."

Injuries:  D Nick Boynton (flu) is probable. LW Ville Peltonen (knee) is doubtful. D Bryan Allen (knee) and LW Rostislav Olesz (groin) are out.
