The Texas Stars were on the road the past week, won two of four games and fell further behind first place Chicago in the West Division.  Here's our weekly update on the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League, the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL and other minor league notes.

The past week

The Stars won their first two games of the week, getting victories at both Hamilton and Syracuse as Richard Bachman stopped 40 of 41 shots over the two games.

Recent Games
Date Opponent Result
2/16 At Hamilton W 5-0
2/17 At Syracuse W 3-1
2/19 At Toronto L 2-1
2/21 At Grand Rapids L 5-4

In Hamilton on Tuesday he stopped 17 shots for his first AHL shutout as the Stars won 5-0. Andrew Hutchinson had a goal and two assists and Warren Peters chipped in one goal and one assist.

The next night in Syracuse Bachman made 23 saves as the Stars beat the Crunch 3-1. Aaron Gagnon, Mathieu Beaudoin and Greg Rallo scored the goals.

Bachman stopped 31 of 33 shots in Toronto on Friday, but the Stars could muster only a late goal by Perttu Lindgren in a 2-1 loss to the Marlies.

On Sunday in Grand Rapids Bachman got pulled in the third period after giving up five goals on 35 shots in a 5-4 loss to the Griffins.

By the end of the day on Sunday, the Stars were nine points behind first place Chicago, which is on a roll. The Wolves have won eight in a row and have points in 14 straight games (12-0-2).

The Stars currently sit in fourth place in the division and the top four teams in each division make the playoffs. The Stars lead fifth place Houston by six points and they play the Aeros twice in the next week.

The Stars wrap up their current road trip Tuesday in Peoria. They return home Friday to take on Houston at Cedar Park Center.
