Texas Stars fall 5-3 to San Antonio

The Texas Stars fell behind 3-0 early against the San Antonio Rampage and could never catch up, eventually falling 5-3 at Cedar Park Center.

The loss dropped the Stars to 33-22-3-4 on the season and left them eight points behind first place Chicago in the West Division. The Stars lead fifth place San Antonio by ten points for the final playoff spot in the division.

San Antonio scored on two of its first three shots, chasing Texas starter Todd Ford just 2:34 into the game. The Rampage made it a 3-0 game at 7:48 of the first.

Goals by Mathieu Beaudoin and Aaron Gagnon later in the first cut it to 3-2, but Houston extended it to 4-2 in the third period. Travis Morin made it a 4-3 game with 38 seconds left, but San Antonio scored into an open net 17 seconds later to seal the win.

The Stars next play on Friday, when they host Rockford.
