The Texas Stars are getting healthier and starting to pick up points again. Here's our weekly update on the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League, the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL and other minor league notes.

The past week

The Texas Stars were 2-0-0 over the past week and got two key players back in uniform.  One made an immediate impact and the other one could be making an impact soon.

Recent Games
Date Opponent Result
3/5 Rockford W 4-3 (OT)
3/6 Houston W 4-3

Team captain Landon Wilson, who hadn't played since early January due to an abdominal injury, returned the lineup and scored two goals in a 4-3 overtime win over Rockford Friday at Cedar Park Center. Ray Sawada also scored for Texas and Travis Morin scored the winner in OT. Matt Climie stopped 26 shots.

"It's going to take a few games to get a feel for everything again, but it's good to get out there and get a win," Wilson told the Austin American-Statesmen.

The Stars beat Houston 4-3 Saturday night at Cedar Park Center. Colton Sceviour tallied the game-winner with 5:41 left in regulation. Sawada notched a Gordie Howe hat trick in the game and Climie stopped 26 shots.

Back in uniform and backing up Climie in both games was Brent Krahn, who has been out of the lineup since November due to sports hernia surgery.

"Our team's been through a lot of injuries and player moves, making it hard to sit back and watch," Krahn told the Austin American-Statesmen. "At the same time, you don't want to hurt your team or yourself by coming back too early. But now I'm ready."

When Krahn went out of the lineup he was the leading the AHL with a 1.41 goals against average and a .958 save percentage to go with a 10-2-0 record.

"Losing him certainly made it tougher for us," Texas coach Glen Gulutzan said. "If there's one thing you look for every game, it's consistent play from your goalie. That's one of the best ways to stay successful."

The Stars, who have won four of their last five games, are in third place in the West Division. They trail second place Rockford by five points, but have four games in hand. The Stars play three games in the coming week, hosting Peoria on Wednesday and then playing a home-and-home with San Antonio on Friday and Saturday.
