The Texas Stars lost two of three over this past week, but continue to sit atop the American Hockey League standings. Here's our weekly update on Dallas Stars' AHL affiliate, the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL and other minor league notes.

The past week

The Texas Stars played the first three games of a four-game home stand over the past week and lost two of three. They fell 5-1 to Peoria on Wednesday. The Stars have given up five goals in a game twice this season and both times it's come against the Rivermen, one of the top scoring teams in the league.

Recent Games
Date Opponent Result
12/9 Peoria Lost 5-1
12/11 Rockford Won 4-2
12/6 Rockford Lost 3-2

On Friday the Stars beat Rockford 4-2. Mathieu Beaudoin, who has been on a goal scoring roll lately, snapped a 2-2 tie with 7:18 left in the second period and that stood up as the game-winner. Matt Climie made 35 saves to get the win in goal.

Rockford bounced back to beat the Stars in a rematch on Saturday, taking a 3-2 decision. Richard Bachman got his second AHL start and stopped 19 of 22 shots to fall to 1-1-0 since being called up for the injured Brent Krahn. Beaudoin scored another goal, giving him seven in the last six games.

The Stars, who are 6-5-0-0 in their last 11 games, now have a 19-7-2-2 record on the season and continue to lead the AHL in points. They play three games in the coming week, two of them at home.

Vishnevskiy latest to get NHL call
Defenseman Ivan Vishnevskiy, Dallas first round pick (27th overall) in 2006, was the latest Texas Star to get called up to the NHL. He played 15:45, had no points and was a minus-one in Dallas' 4-3 overtime loss in Anaheim last Tuesday. He saw a lot of time on the power play in the game.

"I thought he was OK. I thought he did some very good things," said Dallas Stars head coach Marc Crawford. "He wants to make a play. He can really skate. He sees the ice very well. He's definitely gotten much better defensively. He's coming, for sure."

Vishnevskiy returned to the AHL and played in all three games for Texas this past week, picking up an assist in each game. He's tied with Brad Lukowich for the team lead in defenseman scoring with 13 points (four goals, nine assists).
