Unrestricted free agent defenseman Sergei Zubov told a Russian newspaper that he's healthy, getting ready for next season and that he would consider offers from the KHL as he looks to sign a contract for the 2009-10 campaign.

"I'm in good health and preparing for next season," Zubov told the newspaper.

Zubov is in New York, where he traditionally spends his summers. He said he hasn't hit the ice yet, but has been doing work on roller skates.

As for negotiations with NHL teams, he said there have been talks with several. So far, only team has thrown out a specific set of numbers and those included bonus money for games played and how far the team advances in the playoffs.

He said the process of signing a contract is going to take some time.

"I am trying to find the best option," Zubov said. "This is not just about my career, but about my family, my children, too."

Zubov said there was no buyer for his home in Dallas, which he put up for sale recently. He and his family will travel to Moscow in August as part of their summer plans.

He was asked if he would consider playing in the KHL, the top league in Russia and considered the best league in Europe.

“Of course I can imagine playing in the KHL, but I have not received any offers from there yet," Zubov said. "The most important thing for me is to show that I can still play hockey, and that I do it with a good team. Whether I play for the Stanley Cup or Gagarin' Cup – it is not especially important. What's more important is to play with a good team."
