Nick is no team player at times
Sometimes Andrew's
younger brother Nick is someone you would not call a team player.
Nick showed us that a couple of times this past week.
The first example came when older sister Mary
Katherine asked for a hug. At first Nick seemed willing.
"Just a minute," he said.
When Mary Katherine said "please" Nick
responded by saying, "I am busy now." So Nick decided
he was too busy to show his sister some affection.
Another example of Nick's
lack of team spirit involves Christmas. Nick has no desire to
give, he just wants to receive. In other words, it's all about
him.
That's not surprising for
a three-year-old. He assumes every present belongs to him. He
wants to open them now. He has to be involved in wrapping all
presents. He wants the Christmas lights on at all times.
Nick is excited about
Christmas. This is the first year he's got a grasp of the
concept. Of course, it is all about him getting stuff.
Nick picked up one assist
on the week. He got it for being well behaved at Mary Katherine's
basketball game. Nick understood that he could not run out on the
court while the game was being played.
He picked up six minutes
in penalties. He got an obstruction interference minor after
rearranging the cables on Andrew's Nintendo 64 game. He also got
a minor when he let our dog, Natasha, out the back door. Natasha
worked her way under the fence and ran away. He picked up a
roughing minor after taking apart one of our Christmas
decorations.
Mary Katherine's
basketball team lost its second straight game of the season.
After building an 8-2 lead they ended up losing 19-12. Mary
Katherine didn't score, but she played some good defense. She may
be the Kirk Muller of her team.
Andrew went to his first
ever school mixer Friday night. He was a little concerned because
Mom was among the chaperones for the evening. Andrew's spent the
whole time standing in the corner with a couple of his friends.
Mom did not embarrass him.
