Nick takes out Nieuwendyk

Things got pretty ugly around our household this past week when Andrew's younger brother Nick decided to play Bryan Marchment and take out Stars center Joe Nieuwendyk.

Nick didn't employ one of those knee-to-knee hits Marchment is notorious for. Nick used his hands to wipe out the Stars center.

This happened during the Stars-Blackhawks game on Friday night. Nick walked up to Dad's computer and started banging on the key board.

The end result was that Dad's Dallas Morning News wallpaper of Nieuwendyk ripping one of those famous wrist shots was gone. It was nowhere to be found. Nick had wiped it off the hard drive.

Nick was immediately assessed a boarding major and a match penalty by Mommy. Dad, not thinking the punishment was enough, retaliated.

He took the spoon Nick was playing with and left the room. Dad was given two minutes for holding the stick, an unsportsmanlike conduct minor and a ten minute misconduct.

Dad must now search for new wallpaper because he can't find the Nieuwendyk one on the Morning News web page. Dad is not happy.

In other Nick news, the picture above is a brand new one. This is the one that will be shipped out to family members this holiday season. It was taken at day care.

Nick picked up one goal and one assist on the week. He got the goal for actually being able to open the refrigerator door and getting his own food. Of course, this is nice because it shows some independence. But knowing that Nick now has access to bottles and other breakable stuff makes us a little nervous around here.

Nick got his assist for showing more independence after taking off his coat after he and Dad got home from running an errand. In the past, Nick would need assistance taking off his coat.

Not much news concerning Andrew and Mary Katherine. MK's basketball team lost its third straight game. Once again they built an early lead and then watched the other team rally. Mary Katherine didn't score, but she had a rebound and a steal.

Andrew has been busy trying to memorize all the answers to Trivia Pursuit. This way, in his mind, he'll always win. Dad tried it once. He still lost every now and then.
