Nick celebrates the return of Blake Sloan and Christmas too

I'm a caffeinated squirrelA few hours before we found out that the Stars had recalled Blake Sloan from Houston, we had a pretty good feeling it was going to happen.
That's because Andrew's younger brother Nick was doing his best Sloan imitation. This happened while Dad and Nick were waiting in line at the Post Office to ship off a package to Grandma and Grandpa in New York.
Stars broadcaster Daryl Reaugh has referred to Sloan as a "caffeinated squirrel" at times. That's exactly what Nick was at the Post Office. Like Sloan, Nick was zipping around with unbridled alacrity.
One minute he was at the window looking at the flags outside. The next minute he was holding a door open for a lady. The next he was helping the guy behind us move his packages forward. Then he was pushing all the buttons on the vending machines. Then he was ringing the bell for assistance. He really didn't want any help. He just wanted to say hi to the postal worker, who, fortunately, didn't go postal on Nick. On and on he went. For almost 40 minutes and this wasn't some overtime playoff game.
Fortunately, the people around us were good-natured about all this. In fact, they seemed entertained. The same way Stars fans enjoy watching Sloan skate all over the ice.
Nick picked up a goal and an assist on the week. He got the goal for mastering a new phrase. In the past when something wasn't working he would say "It's broken." Now he has learned to say "It's not working. Let me show you."
He got the assist for being extremely well-behaved at Christmas Mass. This was quite an accomplishment since we had to get there 45 minutes early to get a seat. At one point Nick said, "I don't want to be quiet anymore." But he sucked it up and was relatively quiet through the entire Mass.
Nick didn't pick up any penalty minutes this week. His sister Mary Katherine ordered him to timeout for some alleged infraction, but she was overruled by Dad and Nick was not penalized.
Nick had a good Christmas. He got a stick horse, a tricycle, an Elmo, a Zoboo, a Barney book and other stuff.
Andrew got a rocket that actually launches and goes about 600 feet in the air. We haven't tested it yet because of the rainy weather around here. He also got a new game for his Nintendo 64 and a hand-held "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" game. Even Nick was saying "Is that your final answer?" by mid-afternoon on Christmas day.
Mary Katherine, who wanted a puppy, got a couple of stuffed puppies, a Game Boy, a Faith Hill CD and some other stuff Dad doesn't understand.
