Nick doesn't like being told no either

Like Stars goalie Ed Belfour, Andrew's younger brother Nick doesn't like to be told no. But there is a difference. Unlike Belfour, Nick no longer finds it necessary to leave when he is told no.

There was a time when Nick would immediately leave the room after being told no. He would go to another room and start crying. When you asked him what was wrong he would say, "You say no-no."

Nick, who is almost three-and-a-half, no longer leaves the room and cries when you tell him no. He still cries, but he doesn't run off. That, we guess, is progress.

We don't know if Belfour has a problem with this, but Nick doesn't like to be told to quiet down either. This usually happens when we are on the phone and Nick starts whining about something. When you tell him to quiet down he blows a gasket. He cries and says, "You say shhhh."

There are other things Nick whines about. He doesn't like to be told to wait a minute when he asks for something. He whines if you can't find a videotape he wants to watch. He gets mad when we run out of his favorites snacks. We don't know if Eddie has any problems with these types of issues.

Nick didn't pick up any points this week. This doesn't mean he had a bad week. He had a good week. In the past when Andrew and Mary Katherine have been home during their holiday break our house resembles a minor league hockey game. There are brawls breaking out all over the place. This year there were very few scrums.

Of course this doesn't mean Nick was perfectly behaved. He did pick up a double minor for roughing after taking all our 33 cent stamps and making stickers out of them. On the upside, this saved us having to go to the Post Office and buy a bunch of once cent stamps now that the postal rates have increased again.

Not much new on Andrew and Mary Katherine. They head back to school after a two week holiday break.
