Nick Update

NickIt became pretty obvious that Andrew's younger brother Nick had done a big no-no as our regular season opened.
We figured this out when Dad was reading a story on the internet the other day. Nick could see the bottom half of a picture that was embedded in the story Dad was reading. Nick said, "Picture of Nick."
Well, it was actually a picture of Marty McSorley. This led Dad to believe that Nick had pulled yet another McSorley.
Big brother Andrew confirmed this when he alerted Dad that Nick had messed up the kids' computer. Sure enough, Nick had done to the computer's CD ROM with a CD what McSorley had done to Donald Brashear's head with a stick.
Nick, apparently thinking that the more the better, shoved a CD into a CD ROM drive that was already hosting another CD. Needless to say, it made a mess of the computer. The CD ROM drive was making a lot of funny noises.
Dad and team owner, Mommy, were forced to spend a good chunk of a Saturday afternoon fixing the problem.
Fortunately, like Brashear, the computer survived to live for another day. Nick was assessed a major for spearing and a match penalty. No criminal charges have been filed. At least not yet.
It marred what was otherwise a solid season opener for Nick. He picked up his first goal of the season when he correctly drew the number 2 on his Magna Doodle.
Despite scoring in the season opener, Nick was reassigned to daycare to work on certain elements of his game. He was successful as he made some big strides in the potty training department.
It appears that Nick seeing other kids his age using the potty motivated him to tackle this drab but important task. There is nothing like some good old fashioned competition to jump start things.
As for Andrew, not much is new. He, along with Mary Katherine, is on fall break from school. He did buy a new computer game that allows him to build and manage an amusement park. Andrew is proud to boast that despite the fact that many people are killed at his park, attendance continues to soar.
Mary Katherine continues to be a cheerleader for the Hawks football team and she is getting ready to embark on another season of playing basketball for the Shooters.
