Nick getting in a playoff mode

Getting primed for the playoffsLike Derian Hatcher and the rest of the Stars, Andrew's younger brother Nick seems to be stepping up his play and getting ready for the playoffs.
In case you haven't noticed, Hatcher is starting to get that physical, nasty edge back in his game. It's no different with Nick.
Hatcher's job is to help keep opposition players from putting the puck in the Stars net. Hatcher must protect his turf.
Nick's job is to protect his turf too and, like Hatcher, he is getting focused in that department these days.
We found this out recently when Nick found his sister, Mary Katherine, sitting at his spot at the dining room table. Nick was not happy.
"Out of my spot," Nick shouted at Mary Katherine. She quickly complied, but Nick was still not happy. He gave Mary Katherine a nasty look.
This is even nastier than the look Hatcher gives to opposing players who have ticked him off. Nick's look is more comparable to the one that Edmonton's Georges Laraque sports when he is ticked off. It is not a pretty picture and it can be pretty intimidating.
Nick picked up 15 minutes in penalties this week. All of them came from one incident. Nick was given a boarding major and a match penalty for attempting to injure Andrew's Nintendo 64 game.
We discovered this when the game wouldn't work. Upon further review, Mary Katherine discovered that Nick had taken pop corn kernels and placed them in the slot where the cartridge goes. Dad penalized Nick after he fixed the game.
Nick also picked up an assist for making trips to the grocery store a little less trying. In the past Nick would lose it when he would have to turn over a product to the checkout person so that it could be scanned and added to our bill.
Nick has recently learned that if he turns it over he will get it right back and there is no need to get bent out of shape and get in scrums with checkout people.
In other family news, Mary Katherine's basketball team, the Hornets, won their first playoff game by a score of 11-5. Mary Katherine didn't score but she had a couple of rebounds and got off one shot.
