Nick Update

NickStars coach Ken Hitchcok questioned the sincerity of his team's effort recently. We, on the other hand, have never questioned the sincerity of the effort put forth by Andrew's younger brother Nick.
We could have questioned Nick's sincerity this past week when he tried to make a play that resulted in a breakaway for our Siberan Husky, Natasha.
The play Nick tried to make was to let Natasha out in the back yard so she could do her business.
What Nick didn't know is that the gate to the backyard was open. There went Natasha on a breakaway. Natasha, despite her age, can still cover a lot of ground quickly. Fortunately, she was found and brought back home.
Mommy didn't question Nick's sincerity, but explained to him that he should ask for help when Natasha needs to go out. But Nick doesn't always listen to what he is told. More on that later.
Dad did think about questioning Nick's sincerity one day. Nick announced that he was unable to take his nap because he had to use the potty. Dad thought this might be a ploy to get out of the nap. But Nick sat on the potty and then went on to take his nap.
Nick was reassigned from Daycare to Mommy care this past week. She was on vacation. This was good news for Nick, who likes it when Mommy stays home.
Nick picked up his first assist of the season when he helped Mommy clean out the garage, which had been temporarily housing a lot of our stuff the past several months. Needless to say the cleanup was a success. We know this because both cars now fit in the garage.
Nick ran his penalty minutes to 23 by picking up four minors. He got an unsportsmanlike conduct minor when Mommy gave him a chip and told him to eat it and not crumble it up and make a mess. Nick chose option two. In other words, he didn't listen to Mommy.
Nick picked up three obstruction interference minors. Two of them were for messing up a game Andrew and Mary Katherine were playing. Dad, who was the referee at the time, didn't witness the act. But he knew what had happened when he heard a crashing noise followed by Andrew yelling "No, Nick. Bad boy!"
Nick responded by telling Andrew "You're the bad boy."
The third one came when Nick interfered with Daddy's coffee drinking. For some reason Nick has decided to repeatedly take the carton of coffee creamer that sits next to the coffee machine and throw it in the trash. Dad has been forced to put it in the fridge after each use.
Mary Katherine celebrated her ninth birthday this past week. She got a couple of CD's, some clothes and some new shoes. She and Andrew were both on fall break and enjoyed the time off and helped Mommy clean up the garage and the house.
