Nick Update

Andrew's younger brother Nick, pictured to the left in his Halloween costume, has no doubt about who won the Presidential election last week. We found this out when Nick decided to do the Dubya Dance. That let us know Nick had declared George W. Bush the winner, regardless of that recount in Florida.

If you aren't familiar with the Dubya Dance then click here. Nick loves for Dad to call it up on the computer so he can do the Dubya with George "Dubya" Bush. Nick is particulary good at the head bob and arm thrusting aspects of the dance.

Speaking of the election, sometimes Nick resembles a voter in Palm Beach county. He gets confused too. Nick probably could have figured out the ballot, but when it comes to nose issues he can be baffled. He still can't tell the difference between a bloody nose and a runny nose.

Nick is also like the TV networks. He changes his mind a lot. One minute the networks say Florida is too close to call. Then it's Gore's. Then it's too close. Then it's Bush's. Then it's too close to call.

Nick does the same thing when he's throwing a fit about something. Daddy will ask him if he wants a lollipop or to go for a ride in the car. Nick will yell "No, no, Daddy." Five minutes later he wants a lollipop and to go for a ride in the car. Then you offer him the lollipop and he yells "No, no, Daddy." Like the networks, Nick is always flip-flopping on decisions.

Nick had a pretty uneventful week. He had no goals and no assists. He picked up a roughing minor after messing up Andrew's new video game. Andrew wanted to drop the gloves, but cooler heads prevailed. Andrew picked up an unsportsmanlike conduct minor.

Andrew got a big kick out of the election flap. It was a hot topic in school and he was talking about things like Ralph Nader, federal matching funds and the Electoral College.

Mary Katherine made it quite clear that she thought George W. won the election. Her cheerleading duties ended when her team, the Hawks, got eliminated from Super Bowl contention. Next up is basketball.

Both kids got their report cards. Mary Katherine's was excellent. Andrew's was so-so.
